Paste your premise and get a back-cover description that hooks readers, plus a one-line tagline for the front cover.
Most bestselling fiction blurbs follow the same four beats, whatever the genre:
Nonfiction blurbs swap the story beats for the reader’s problem, the book’s promise and why the author is the person to deliver it. Choose “Nonfiction” as the genre and describe who the book is for.
Write in the present tense and third person, even if the book is in first person; it reads more urgently. Cut every adjective that doesn’t earn its place, and name no more than two or three characters, since readers can’t hold a cast list in a description. Read the first line on its own: on Amazon only the first few lines show before “Read more,” so that line has to work alone.
Keep the promise consistent with your cover and title. If you don’t have a title yet, try the free book title generator using the same premise.
From a premise like “Mara, a cartographer in a city that redraws itself every night, finds her own street missing from the morning map,” a strong blurb opens on Mara and her maps, turns on the missing street, raises the stakes (her family is on it), and closes on her uneasy alliance with the thief who stole it, with a tagline along the lines of “Every night the city forgets. This time it forgot her.”
When the blurb is ready, Anthra can write the book behind it. Its AI agent turns your premise into a beat sheet and outline, drafts each chapter with continuity checks, then adds a cover, chapter art and an audiobook. Read how the agentic book creator works.
A blurb is the short description on the back cover or retailer page that sells the book: it introduces the main character, the problem they face and what is at stake, then stops before the ending. On Amazon it is the “book description”.
For fiction, 100 to 200 words is typical: long enough to set up the conflict, short enough to read in the few seconds a browser gives you. The generator aims for 120 to 180 words in two or three short paragraphs, plus a one-line tagline.
Yes, the text is yours to use and edit. Treat it as a strong first draft: check every detail matches your book, put your own voice into it, and make sure it follows the retailer’s content guidelines.

It is instructed not to. A good blurb ends on the central question, not the answer, so the generator stops at the point of highest tension. If your premise includes the twist, leave it out of what you paste in.
Anthra’s AI agent plans the outline, writes every chapter, illustrates it with consistent characters, narrates the audiobook and exports EPUB, PDF and a print-ready paperback. Start with free welcome credits, no card required.
