Anthra vs Inkfluence AI.

Two all-in-one AI book creators, built around different ideas: fast templates and storefront listings, or an agent that works through the book with you.

The short answer

Choose Inkfluence AI if you want to turn an idea into a finished, sellable book quickly across many formats (workbooks, cookbooks, guides, devotionals, picture books and fiction). It also suits you if you want to work from an iPhone or iPad, list on Etsy or Gumroad in one click, translate into many languages, or prefer a predictable monthly plan with a free tier.

Choose Anthra if you want an AI agent that plans, drafts, critiques, illustrates and narrates your book step by step, with approvals before costly steps and deep continuity and craft tooling. Choose it too if you want per-character audiobook casting, print paperbacks through Lulu, or to run everything from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your own agent over MCP and REST, paying with credits that never expire.

Writing

Inkfluence AI generates a book from a topic or outline, chapter by chapter. Fiction is written with a story bible, and continuity checks cover names, point of view, timeline, open threads and key objects. Projects sync in real time between desktop and its iPhone and iPad app. You can highlight any passage to rewrite it, run chapter-level and whole-book editorial reviews, and import existing drafts from Word, PDF or EPUB. Its biggest advantage is range: 33 book types, including workbooks, cookbooks, devotionals, study guides and lesson plans, plus a brand kit that applies your logo, colors and typography across projects.

Anthra goes deeper on long-form craft. Its agent interviews you about the premise, builds a beat sheet and outline for approval, and drafts against character, world and continuity bibles. It then runs a specialist critique panel, a test-reader panel, prose analysis (POV slippage, tense, rhythm, clichés) and checks for timeline, geography and foreshadowing. Edits land as reviewable track-changes suggestions, and every chapter opens in a full editor. Anthra imports DOC, DOCX, EPUB, MOBI and PDF.

Illustration and covers

Inkfluence AI has a five-tab cover studio with typography, layout, stock and AI images, and print-ready sizing for paperback and Kindle. Its Children’s Book Creator makes illustrated picture books, and paid plans include a monthly allowance of AI images for them.

Anthra builds front, back and spine panels and composes a print-ready wraparound spread. It also generates chapter illustrations and character portraits in one locked style, with character descriptions locked so faces stay consistent from chapter to chapter.

Narration and audiobooks

Both tools make audiobooks. Inkfluence AI offers 49 AI voices across 14 languages, with HD voices on Premium. You can preview a voice before spending credits, assign different voices to different speakers, and export per-chapter MP3s to ACX’s audio spec or one merged file. Creator includes 15 audiobook chapters a month and Premium 30; the free plan does not include audiobooks.

Anthra casts a narrator per character from a library of lifelike voices, layers ambience and intro stings, and exports chapter-by-chapter M4B or MP3 files from the same manuscript. Narration is priced per character of text rather than as a monthly chapter allowance.

Export and publishing

Inkfluence AI exports PDF, EPUB and DOCX with your branding, headers and author bio. You can connect an Etsy or Gumroad shop and publish a finished listing in one click, with AI-drafted listing copy. For Amazon KDP it gives which-file-goes-where guidance, and its features page says a KDP integration is next. For selling through marketplaces, this is a real strength.

Anthra exports EPUB, PDF and DOCX, M4B / MP3 audio, and sends paperbacks to Lulu print-on-demand, calculating spine width and bleed. It publishes to its own Discover storefront, can gate downloads behind email capture or payment, and offers an embeddable reader for your website.

Agent, MCP and API access

Inkfluence AI describes a context-aware writing assistant for rewriting, tone changes and translation. We found no public API or MCP server on its site.

Anthra is agent-first. The in-app agent uses 250+ tools and stops for an Approve / Deny prompt before publishing, narration, image generation, deletion and print orders. The same toolkit is exposed over an MCP server: Claude.ai and ChatGPT connect over OAuth, and Cursor, Claude Code and Claude Desktop connect with a personal API key. Keys are scoped and can be limited to specific books with a monthly credit cap. There is also a REST API with an OpenAPI schema, and full-book runs execute as durable background jobs with webhooks.

Pricing model

Inkfluence AI has a free plan with no credit card required. Creator is $9.99 a month or $89 a year, and Premium is $19.99 a month or $179 a year with unlimited chapters. One-time chapter credit packs ($9.99 for 15, $12.99 for 25, $24.99 for 50) never expire and cover chapters, AI cover images and audiobooks beyond your plan. Inkfluence AI says your content is never used to train AI models.

Anthra has no subscription. You buy credit packs and spend them per step: about 5 credits for a chapter, 3 for research and an outline, and 4 for an illustration. Credits never expire. New accounts get welcome credits with no card required, and paid packs include a commercial license. See Anthra pricing.

FAQ

Is Anthra a good Inkfluence AI alternative?

For some authors. Inkfluence AI is built to turn an idea into a finished, sellable book quickly, with templates for 33 book types, an iOS app and one-click Etsy and Gumroad listings. Anthra suits authors who want an AI agent that plans, writes, critiques, illustrates and narrates step by step with approvals, or who want to run book creation from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP.

Which one makes better audiobooks?

They take different approaches. Inkfluence AI offers 49 AI voices across 14 languages and exports per-chapter MP3 files to ACX’s audio spec, or one merged file, on its paid plans. Anthra casts a narrator per character, layers ambience and intro stings, and exports M4B and MP3. Inkfluence AI notes that Audible and ACX do not accept third-party AI-narrated audio.

Is Inkfluence AI cheaper than Anthra?

They charge differently. Inkfluence AI has a free plan, then Creator at $9.99 a month ($89 a year) and Premium at $19.99 a month ($179 a year), plus one-time chapter credit packs. Anthra has no subscription: you buy credit packs that never expire and spend about 5 credits per chapter. If you publish every month, a flat subscription may be easier to budget.

Can I publish to Amazon KDP from either tool?

Inkfluence AI gives which-file-goes-where guidance and KDP-ready cover output; its features page says a direct KDP integration is next. Anthra exports EPUB, PDF and DOCX you can upload to any store, and handles print paperbacks through Lulu print-on-demand.

Does either tool work with Claude or ChatGPT?

Anthra runs an MCP server: add it as a custom connector in Claude.ai or ChatGPT over OAuth, or connect Cursor and Claude Code with a scoped API key. We found no public API or MCP server on Inkfluence AI’s site.
